The Distinction.
There is a firm distinction between coaching and therapy :
- Therapy is about looking in the past and healing
- Coaching is about the present and future and taking action with emotionally healthy people. It is about learning and integrating tools in your life that will make your life work better
Coaching.
You may want and or need the services of a therapist during this time as well. Coaching does not preclude you working with a therapist at the same time. Your coach, however, will not work on "emotional issues" or other therapy issues. Your coach is trained to recognize therapy issues and will refer you appropriately.
Your coach will use a "coach - approach" to help you deal with the day to day of diagnosis, treatment, survival and on to "thrival". Through listening, sharing and providing you with Lifetools™ to cope with your experiences and focus your energy, you will build a toolkit to help you through the entire process.
Remember this is not just about getting through— it is about survival and "thrival". It is about making the most of the hand that is dealt to you- no matter what that hand holds. Your coach knows...because she has walked the path.
